Sunshine Award

April 7, 2012 · 5 comments

Oh, teh interwebs… it’s a strange virtual world we live in.  We find ourselves suddenly connected to all sorts of people, most of whom we’ve never met in real life.  And yet, like friends, we look forward to reading their blog posts, and perhaps their social media updates too.

So, it’s really rather wonderful when a fellow bloggy friend, whom you haven’t met in real life and who therefore isn’t completely biased, nominates your blog for an award.  Who, me? Bring on the recognition! It feels good to be appreciated, so thank you ConvertibleLife for the honour!

Here are the rules for this award:
1) Include the award logo in a post or in your blog.
2) Answer 10 questions about yourself.
3) Nominate 10 to 12 other fabulous bloggers.
4) Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blog to let them know they are nominated.
5) Share the love and link the person who nominated you.

And here are my answers to these random questions:

Favorite color: That magical point in the spectrum where red meets pink.

Favorite number: Seven, because it’s a prime number, and I think they’re cool.

Favorite animal: Dogs.  Specifically, mine. Aroo!!

Favorite non-alcoholic drink: Something caffeinated – espresso-based coffee in the morning; Earl Grey tea in the afternoon.

Prefer Facebook or Twitter: I can’t really make a comparison because I use the two platforms for totally different reasons: Facebook for keeping in touch with friends and family; Twitter for networking and keeping up-to-date with local goings-on.  (I never liked Twitter until I discovered the fabulous TweetBot app.  Best $3 I spent in the App Store.)

My Passion: Friends, laughter, colour, food.

Prefer giving or getting presents: I actually really enjoy giving gifts.  I think I’m pretty good at picking out what I think someone would like, even when it’s not completely to my taste.  (Of course, I also like the element of surprise, so getting gifts is nice too.)

Favorite pattern: Stripes. Love ‘em.  Particularly horizontal ones.

Favorite day of the week: I think Saturday.  I associate it with freedom.

Favorite flower: Ranunculus, peonies, roses, jasmine. How could I pick just one?

And here are the bloggers I am nominating for this award:

Momsicle because she is a good friend and I loves her
Sherry Parnes because she is my crazy wife
Notabilia because she got me started on this whole website thang in the first place
A Lady Reveals Nothing because she makes me howl
The Daily Frolic because she takes beautiful, peachy photographs
Brandi Girl Blog because she shares explorations in colour and web design beautifully
Kadja1 for faithfully sharing, tweeting, and promoting everything I create!
Everything Worth Writing About for her openness and honesty
What Possessed Me because I like the things she notice
San Budí because she reminds me of home

Now go blog visiting, share some comment love — and tell them I sent you.

I do so because you helped turn me around….Doing much better now than last year too! Thank you soooooo much for keeping that karma post up to remind me! ;-) I’ve got much to be grateful for…I do not have to be “locked” into anything and change doesn’t bother me nearly as much. Eric is engaged, Kevin is going to be a father and Brian has got his “geek thing” going on too and made a website! That decision to leave corrections came not too long after I really sat down and took a LONG look at my life because of that post. I don’t know HOW many times I refer back to it… I’ll be forever grateful. I also listen to a certain cd I recently received on the way to work a lot! Calms me down for sure! Thank you for being who you are! :-)

Tinaroo, I must say that I’m not quite sure what I’ve done to help turn you around… but it feels good to know that just by being me it brought joy to someone. I think 2012 is going to be a great year for you! And I’m glad you like the CD — I love making music compilations for other people, and am delighted if the person likes only one out of the 20-odd songs. It’s always hit and miss, so I’d be curious to know which songs you particularly liked… and didn’t like!

When I was working at the prison, I was slipping into a deep depression/recluse mode again. Then you had a post about karma on your blog…I realized then that it doesn’t matter what comes back to me. What matters is if I put something positive out that spreads like ripples in a pond and benefits someone else later–and then it keeps on going as if the wind is carrying the thought or action with it to the next person–that is what can make real change down the road, I think….Sometimes it takes only 1 person to get another to think and change direction. That post helped me to realize quite a few things in a short time. I began digging for answers about a lot of things, and I am finding them!. As a result, my life and my outlook are totally different.
